Being a noobie to NV I dont have anything to compare them to. That being said, after hearing so many negative remarks about Gen 1 I was amazed at how clearly I can see with these goggles. They are light weight, easy to focus and have excellent depth perception. The downsides are the headgear which is not very user friendly and a minor point off for the IR which emmits a barely visible red light.
